Eight Rings 5-2 – Interestingly, like ‘Dennis’, would be undefeated if not for losing his jock two back at Del Mar. Baffert added blinkers LTO to take the American Pharoah at this distance over the Santa Anita surface.

Dennis’ Moment 3-1 – One of the early favorites for Kentucky Derby 2020, he’ll ride a two-race win streak into Southern California as co-favorite. Probably undefeated if not for losing the jock at the break in his maiden voyage at Churchill.

Maxfield 5-1 – Twice to the track, twice to the winner’s circle, this son of Street Sense has more in earnings than either of the top two. Strong contender.

Wrecking Crew 20-1 – SoCal specialist has a win and two seconds but breeding suggests distance concerns as the class of 2019 travels towards Kentucky and the Triple Crown next year.

American Theorem 10-1 – Another who’s coming for a repeat vs. Eight Rings. Winner with blinkers in first out effort at Del Mar – from off the pace. But sans blinkers LTO when following the leader in second throughout. Trainer is 0 for 13 at Santa Anita, so far.

Scabbard 8-1 – Raced to an easy victory as the politically incorrectly named “Noose” to start career at Churchill. Runner up in next two from off the pace. Will have plenty to run at but may be a cut below the top pair.

Shoplifted – Took 5 1/2 maiden outing at Saratoga with ease. Last two tries vs. G1 company were much tougher to handle. Has the benefit of a race over the track in the ‘Pharoah’, but so does the winner of that one.

Anneau D’Or – Easy winner at first asking on the Golden Gate lawn going 8F and don’t see any reason why he wouldn’t be able to repeat in his second career start except for the presence of others who are multiple graded stakes winners who have already raced three or four times.

Full Flat – Three turf tries in Japan winning once going 6F over a firm course. Clear skies in the forecast for Breeders’ Cup weekend and this race will be run on dirt. Chances are slim, if he goes.
