American Pharoah Draws Post 4 for His Final Race

Triple Crown winner American Pharoah will break for the final time as the 6 to 5 favorite from post position No. 4 in the 2015 Breeders’ Cup Classic on Saturday.

The Classic will be the final race of American Pharoah’s illustrious career and win or lose he’ll always be remembered for winning American horse racing’s most sought achievement.

American Pharoah will enter the starting gate on Saturday having lost his last race as the heavy favorite to Keen Ice in the Travers at Saratoga.

Saratoga has long been described in American racing lore as “the graveyard of favorites” for it’s deep, tiring surface which has been the demise of many who have come before so it would be easy to excuse his second place finish in the Travers as the result of a grueling three-race stretch culminating with his powerful win in the Belmont Stakes and for the superstitious a little bit of racing voodoo.

Here is the complete post position draw for the 2015 Breeders’ Cup Classic:

Post Positon | Horse | Trainer | Odds
1 Tonalist Christophe Clement 6/1
2 Keen Ice Dale Romans 12/1
3 Frosted Kiaran McLaughlin 15/1
4 American Pharoah Bob Baffert 6/5
5 Gleneagles Aidan O’Brien 20/1
6 Effinex James Jerkens 30/1
7 Smooth Roller Victor Garcia 15/1
8 Hard Aces John Sadler 50/1
9 Honor Code Claude McGaughey III 6/1
10 Beholder Richard Mandella 3/1
